No immunizations due at this visit except flu immunization during fall season. RSV immunization discussed as option.
Doses follow the current AAP and CDC schedule — ask us anything about them at the visit.
Screenings
Hemoglobin check for anemia detection.
Safety at this age
Rear-facing car seat in back seat only. Keep small objects and plastic bags away. Don't cook while holding baby to avoid burns. Never leave unattended in car, bed, tub, or near water. Stop swaddling when baby rolls over. Keep home and car smoke-free. Complete safety sweep for mobile baby; walkers not recommended. Post Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222.
Guidance for this age
Development: Baby turns to name, babbles "mama" and "dada," sits well without support, pulls up on furniture, crawls.
Feeding
"Continue breast or bottle feeding. Solids and meals are priority." Introduce variety of textures progressively. Gradually increase table food variety. Encourage sippy cup for water. Consider weaning timeline. Never prop bottle; holding baby during feeding provides bonding opportunity. Avoid putting baby in crib with bottle to prevent tooth damage.
