We like to begin your newborn care in the hospital and continue it as an integral part of the comprehensive care provided by our professional team.
Parents can discuss bathing, feeding concerns, sleep schedules, and other newborn care questions during visits. Routine blood draws are available in-office.

Common questions
When does my newborn have their first checkup?
The first checkup occurs within two weeks after leaving the hospital. During this appointment the pediatrician checks weight, length, and head circumference; evaluates feeding, bowel, and sleeping habits; performs a physical examination including an eye assessment; conducts a developmental evaluation; and performs required newborn screening tests in-office.
What screenings does newborn care include?
Newborn screening covers 32 core and 24 secondary conditions to identify genetic and rare medical conditions early. Within the first 24 hours after delivery, a hearing screening is performed and blood is drawn from the heel for routine testing. Early identification prevents growth problems, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, blindness, deafness, and seizures.
What are well-child visits?
Follow-up appointments occur at one and two months. Each visit includes evaluation of growth and developmental milestones. At the two-month visit, immunizations protect against polio, hepatitis B, rotavirus, diphtheria, haemophilus influenzae, and pneumococcus. Small doses of the same immunizations are repeated several times over the first 18 months for full protection.
